i want to write carmine having/showing signs of bpd but as a person who isn't diagnosed with it i want to make sure i portray it correctly and in a respectful light. if anyone has any tips, links on how to write a bpd character or is diagnosed with it themselves please send them/come my way! <33

@ollytheelephant ... thank you so much!! and yeah, unfortunately bpd is almost always portrayed in a negative light which just sucks :/ and i have been looking at mental health websites as well as reading things from people who gave bpd on how to write it. i have only been diagnosed with depression not bpd, and while i know there can be overlap, i just wanted to portray it in the correct light/way. but thank you so much, this honestly helped a lot <33

@oscarsisaac oh man it’s so hard to write about bpd, it has such a negative stereotype and is almost always portrayed in a character like they’re batshit crazy (we aren’t crazy lmao). the best way i would explain is it’s like you’re constantly riding a rollercoaster but you have no idea when it’s going to dip or go higher. there’s not really a middle ground, it’s either you experience lows at it’s lowest or when you do go through something good, it’s amazing. i think if you aren’t properly diagnosed it’s always good to look at professional mental health websites so you get a good idea of what it looks like, but i think it’s also ok to write about what you experience too because in a way it makes it more real you know?
