It was now Tuesday, the akuma class had a free day today, to go shopping for the Wayne Gala, which was on Friday night, and they would be leaving on Monday. Lila had practically begged her mum for some money to buy a dress that didn't look cheap. She and her sheep were trailing her through the mall when there was a BANG! And what she saw was... shocking.

Flashback
Mari pov
I didn't know why but woke up a bit earlier than usual that morning. I put on my uniform and started to make breakfast. Alfred wasn't there yet, so I started on my own.
"Good Morning Marinette" Alfred said walking into the dining room, with the rest of the family walking in sleepily behind him.
"Good morning everyone" she replied with a smile.
"Happy Birthday Marinette," he said and walked out of the room.
"What? It's not my birthd-" I checked my phone and saw all the 'happy birthday' messages on my phone.
"Oh, thanks Alfred." I said sheepishly. Birthdays weren't that big of a deal for me anymore, so it was normal for me to forget, but still, it was kind of sad. Jason on the other hand looked shook.
"How the hell do you forget your birthday??" I shrugged, I really didn't know how to answer that.
"How old are you today?"
"17"
"Well," Selina said, "if today's your 17th birthday I'm taking you shopping, my treat"
"You really don't have too," I said, "I haven't been shopping in a while though..."
"You will come willingly or I will personally drag you there." she said, she looked serious.
"Alright then, if you insist."
"Does anyone else want to to join us?" and was immediately met with countless random excuses from the boys.
"Great, anyways how long could it have been since you last went shopping?"
"For myself? Uhm.." I thought about it. I had gone a lot to by fabrics for commissions but for myself, the last time I had gone was
"Bout 3 years now"
"WHAT??"
"Time for school"
She gratefully stood up.
Timeskip to after school
3rd person pov
"Marinette? You ready to go?"
"I'm coming!" Marinette had just come back from school and was now wearing
With her black side purse.
She was stepping out of her room when she bumped into something warm and solid. He quickly grabbed her waist to stop her from falling.
"You should be more careful, you don't want to bruise something" said a smirking Damien. She stood up and said,
"I am perfectly capable of looking after myself" she replied a laugh in her voice.
"See you later then," she said softly and kissed his cheek, and walked of. A small blush crept up on his cheeks, but he quickly got it under control as he walked of into the opposite direction. Oh how life had changed...
At the mall
They had been circling the mall for at least 30 minutes now and had a couple bags in their arms. They were just on their way to the food court to get some coffee when, BANG.
Marinette saw a figure emerging from the smoke, wow what an entrance, but she almost gagged at the suit he was wearing. Like the colours completely clashed, it was pure torture made into clothes. Then he spotted her.
"Ah, looks like Bruce did again huh, aren't you a pretty one?" he said with a false smile, "goons get her."
During all this nobody noticed the news reporters their standing at a distance recording everything.
"Well gee I'm flattered, but I really don't think that's going to happen."
Meanwhile at the Manor
Damien was in the Batcave when the alarm went off, and found the news coverage on Riddler on the mall. The rest of the family came in a couple seconds later.
"What is it this time?" Tim asked.
"Riddler, at the mall," Damien said offhandedly, it shocked the others that he wasn't more bothered by this.
"Okaaaay, so why are you sat here?"
"Because, Drake, I don't think I am needed there."
"You realise Selina and Pixie are there right???"
"That's exactly why I am not worried, I actually feel quite bad Riddler and his goons at this point." he said, with an unnatural gleam in his eye. It creeped the rest of them out, except Jason, he saw what that little girl could do, he simply sat down and took out his popcorn.
"Where the hell did you even get that?" Dick asked.
"Comedic tension? don't know" he simply shrugged and watched the screen.
Back at the mall
"Well gee I'm flattered, but really don't think that's going to happen." she said as calm as anything, and swiftly chi-blocked all the goons, leaving them on the floor, paralysed. The rest of the people stared at her shocked, those at the mall and those watching on TV, even the news reporters forgot to talk and stared at her. Then Riddler took out his gun,
"right then, for every riddle you get wrong one life will be killed."
"Fine," she said frustrated.
"You're in a race and you pass the person in second place. What place are you in now?"
"Second place"
"Correct," he said a bit disappointed, "Let's make it harder than,"
"How can you go 10 days without sleep?"
"You sleep at night."
"A driver is going the opposite way down a one-way street. He passes five policemen along the way, none of which stops him. Why not?"
"The driver was walking"
"What has 13 hearts, but no lungs or stomach? "
"A deck of cards"
and so on and so forth, Riddler getting more and more frustrated as he went.
"That's all my riddles, that's all I've got. I like you kid, you are now under the protection of Riddler" he creepily grinned and with a puff of smoke he was gone.
